Running the import process with a user-defined configuration

Copy and rename the provided configuration sets to derive user-defined configuration sets. User-defined configuration sets are saved to the application data folder of the respective Windows user under ..\AppData\Roaming\PTV Vision\PTV Visum 2025\Importer\OSM.

Tip: The AppData folder is a so-called "hidden" folder in Windows Explorer and is therefore not displayed by default. You can display hidden folders as follows:

In Windows, open the Explorer window. From the View menu, choose Options. In the Folder options window, click the View tab. In the Advanced settings section, under Hidden files and folders, select Show hidden files, folders and drives and confirm with OK.

This folder is not affected by a Visum update, so that your user-defined configuration sets are not lost.

The provided configuration sets are stored in a read-only folder where they cannot be modified. Proceed as follows if you want to customize the provided configuration sets:

1.  In the directory of your Visum installation under ...\Exe\Importer\OSM\, copy the configuration folder that you want to customize.

2.  Save the copied folder to a separate folder in the application data folder of the respective Windows user under ..\AppData\Roaming\PTV Vision\PTV Visum 2025\Importer\OSM.

3.  Name the folder and the configuration files identically without changing the file extension.

4.  Customize the *.cfg file in a text editor (Configuration file for import parameters).

5.  Customize the *.net file in a text editor (Network file with default settings).

6.  In the *.xml file, check whether the same tag names are used as in the files *.cfg and *.net ([NodeAttributeMappings], [LinkAttributeMappings],...).

7.  In the File menu, select the Import > OpenStreetMap entry.

The OpenStreetMap Importer window opens.

8.  Make the desired settings (Running the import process with a predefined configuration).

9.  Confirm with OK.

The data is imported and a temporary network file is generated, which is displayed in Visum.
